Epoxy Floor Finish

Performance and Uses

This product is a two-component priming coat designed specifically for epoxy flooring systems. It is formulated with bisphenol A epoxy resin as the base material, paired with specialized curing agents, anti-rust pigments, penetrating additives, and reactive diluents. It exhibits exceptional penetrating power, adhesion, and anti-rust properties, effectively sealing the pores of concrete substrates and enhancing the bonding strength between the floor topcoat and the substrate to provide solid foundational protection for the entire epoxy flooring system.

  • Anti-Rust & Anti-Alkali Resistance: Features outstanding anti-rust and anti-alkali properties. It effectively blocks the penetration of moisture and salts from the concrete substrate, preventing substrate corrosion and sanding while avoiding issues like bubbling or peeling of the flooring topcoat. It also resists mild chemical media to shield the substrate from damage.

  • Rapid Action & Convenient Application: Dries quickly and applies effortlessly with excellent penetration capability. It rapidly infiltrates the concrete substrate to establish a tight bond, forming a uniform and dense film free of pinholes and bubbles. It is highly suitable for large-area floor applications in factories, garages, and workshops, and can be efficiently applied by roller or brush coating.

  • Stable Application Window: Can be applied normally within a temperature range of 5°C to 35°C. It guarantees robust film adhesion and curing results in low-temperature environments, and resists whitening or wrinkling under high-temperature, high-humidity conditions. It adapts perfectly to various indoor flooring installation scenarios, requiring no complex post-application curing so that subsequent topcoat installation can proceed quickly.

  • Excellent Substrate Penetration: Bonds exceptionally well to concrete, cement mortar, steel structures, and other substrates. With a penetration depth of up to $2 \sim 3\,\text{mm}$, it effectively seals substrate pores and boosts the overall structural strength of the flooring system, providing an optimal bonding foundation for epoxy intermediate and top coats to eliminate delamination.

Applications

Widely utilized for priming various epoxy flooring systems, including the substrate preparation of indoor floors in industrial factories, warehouses, garages, workshops, laboratories, hospitals, shopping malls, etc. It is also applicable for the priming protection of concrete walls and steel flooring, and can be matched with epoxy intermediate and top coats to form a complete epoxy flooring protective system that adapts to heavy-load, medium-corrosion, or cleanroom operational requirements.

描述

Physical Parameters

  • Gloss: Matt, Semi-matt (matt by default to prevent primer reflection from affecting the topcoat appearance)

  • Standard Film Thickness:

    • Wet Film Thickness (WFT): 80 μm

    • Dry Film Thickness (DFT): 30 μm

  • Theoretical Spreading Rate: Approx. 6.5 ㎡/kg

  • Flash Point: 28°C

  • Density: Approx. 1.20 g/cm³ (after mixing the two components)

Application Instructions

  • Mixing Ratio: Base : Curing Agent = 4 : 1 (by weight)

  • Pot Life (23°C): 2 hours

  • Thinner: Epoxy Floor Primer Dedicated Thinner (Note: The use of general thinners is strictly prohibited as it will degrade the film’s adhesion and penetration. Add only in small amounts during application when substrate porosity is excessively large.)

  • Cleaning Solvent: Epoxy Floor Primer Dedicated Thinner. Clean all tools immediately after use to completely remove residual paint, preventing cleanup difficulties caused by product curing. Application tools must be kept dry and clean; avoid moisture contamination to safeguard paint performance.

  • Application Methods: Airless Spray, Conventional Air Spray, or Brush/Roller Coating.

Surface Preparation

  • Concrete Substrates: The substrate surface must be clean, dry, and completely free of oil stains, dust, laitance, and loose material. Concrete substrates must be abraded to remove laitance and loose layers, exposing a solid base with a surface roughness of $\text{Ra}\,3.2 \sim 6.3\,\mu\text{m}$.

  • General Requirements: Remove surface dust using a vacuum cleaner or high-pressure air to ensure substrate pores are unblocked. The moisture content of the concrete substrate must be $\le$ 8%, otherwise it can easily cause film blistering and flaking.

  • Overcoating: When overcoating existing epoxy floors or cement grounds, the old surface must be abraded and roughened to eliminate chalked or loose areas. Clean thoroughly before primer application to ensure optimal adhesion between the new film and the old substrate.

Application Conditions

  • Temperature & Humidity: The application temperature range is 5 ~ 35°C with a relative humidity (RH) below 80%. The substrate surface temperature must be at least 3°C above the dew point. All measurements of temperature and humidity must be taken close to the substrate in the application area.

  • High-Temperature Constraints: Coating operations are not recommended if the substrate surface temperature exceeds 40°C, avoiding film defects like pinholes, wrinkling, or incomplete curing.

  • Adverse Weather & Ventilation: Do not apply outdoors or in poorly ventilated indoor areas during rain, snow, high humidity, or heavy fog. The application environment must maintain excellent ventilation to prevent solvent vapor accumulation, while measures should be taken to stop dust from settling onto un-dried film surfaces.

Coating System Compatibility

  • Preceding Preparation: Concrete substrate abrasion, dust removal, and drying treatment; steel structure substrates must undergo rust removal to reach at least St3 grade.

  • Subsequent Coats: SH-E2001 Epoxy Floor Intermediate Coat, SH-E2002 Epoxy Floor Topcoat, or SH-E2003 Epoxy Self-Leveling Topcoat. Using these in combination creates a complete epoxy flooring system. Select the corresponding subsequent coating based on operational needs (heavy-load, cleanroom, anti-corrosion) to maximize overall floor performance.

Packaging Specifications

  • Base (Part A): 20 kg

  • Curing Agent (Part B): 5 kg

Storage

  • Store this product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse, away from open flames and heat sources. Avoid direct sunlight.

  • Do not store together with acidic, alkaline, or oxidizing substances. The shelf life is 12 months under normal room temperature (5-30°C) conditions. After expiration, the product can still be used if it passes inspection for all technical specifications.

  • The base and curing agent must be stored separately. Once opened, the product should be used as soon as possible; any unused portion must be tightly sealed and stored to prevent moisture absorption, curing, or contamination that compromises adhesion and penetration.

Safety Precautions

  • All sources of ignition and smoking are strictly prohibited at the mixing and application sites. Maintain excellent ventilation to reduce paint mist concentration and avoid the inhalation of harmful components (confined space application requires specialized extraction and respiratory equipment).

  • Applicators must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including protective masks, safety goggles, and solvent-resistant gloves to avoid paint mist inhalation or eye and skin contact.

  • If paint contacts the skin, wash immediately with soap and water or a specialized skin cleanser. If it splashes into the eyes, rinse continuously with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek immediate medical attention.

  • Warning signs must be placed around the application area to restrict unauthorized entry. Clean up and collect residual coatings and thinners promptly after construction for centralized disposal; dumping at will is strictly prohibited to prevent environmental pollution.
