Epoxy Glass Flake Coating

Performance & Uses

A two-component, heavy-duty industrial anti-corrosive coating based on modified epoxy resin, formulated with corrosion-resistant glass flakes, pigments, extenders, additives, and a specialized curing agent. It forms a thick, dense paint film with exceptionally high resistance to permeation.

  • The overlapping layers of glass flakes form a tight barrier layer, offering excellent resistance to water vapor, salt spray, and chemical permeation. It provides outstanding anti-corrosion protection against acids, alkalis, salts, and sewage.

  • High film hardness, excellent abrasion and impact resistance, high crack resistance, and extreme resistance to permeation. It is moisture-proof and waterproof, making the coating highly resistant to blistering and peeling during long-term immersion.

  • Superior adhesion, forming a firm bond with carbon steel, concrete, and cement mortar substrates. It is ideal for damp and severely corrosive operating conditions.

  • Excellent temperature resistance, as well as high resistance to industrial atmospheres, seawater, and sewage erosion. It offers a long service life, making it suitable for long-term, heavy-duty anti-corrosion engineering.

Suitable for wastewater treatment plants, chemical process basins, desulfurization towers, sewage pipelines, storage tank internals, and coastal steel structures or pier facilities. It is also used for the anti-corrosive protection of concrete basin walls, industrial heavy-duty flooring, chemical equipment, and other highly corrosive environments.

Surface Preparation

For steel structures, the substrate must be blast-cleaned to Sa2.5 standard to remove mill scale, grease, salt, and rust. For concrete substrates, the surface must be sound, dry, free of hollows/voids, and free of loose dust, with a moisture content of $\le 8\%$, and ground smooth. Loose or weak substrates require consolidation treatment. Existing/old paint films must be thoroughly abraded/roughened and cleaned prior to application.

Application Conditions

The application temperature range is 5–$35^\circ\text{C}$, with relative humidity (RH) below 80%. The substrate surface temperature must be at least $3^\circ\text{C}$ above the dew point. Application under damp, condensing, or rainy conditions is strictly prohibited to prevent the paint film from blistering or whitening. Do not perform outdoor application during high winds, sandstorms, or heavy fog. Maintain good ventilation during application to prevent dust from settling on the uncured film surface.

Coating System

  • Preceding Coat: Epoxy zinc-rich primer, or epoxy anti-corrosive primer.

  • Subsequent Coat: Epoxy topcoat, or polyurethane topcoat.

  • Note: Avoid compatibility with alkyd-based coatings to prevent adverse chemical reactions.

Packaging Specifications

  • Base (Part A): 21 kg / 28 kg

  • Curing Agent (Part B): 3 kg / 4 kg

Storage

This product must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse, away from fire and heat sources, and protected from direct sunlight and rain. The storage temperature should be between 5–$30^\circ\text{C}$. Base and curing agent must be stored separately. The shelf life is 12 months under normal room temperature conditions.

Safety

This product contains organic solvents and is a flammable anti-corrosive coating. All sources of ignition are strictly prohibited at the application site, and good ventilation must be maintained. Application personnel must wear respirator masks, safety glasses, and solvent-resistant gloves. Avoid inhalation of paint mist. In case of skin contact, wipe with a dedicated thinner first, then wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of fresh water and seek medical attention.
