Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene Paint

Performance and Uses

This product is a high-performance anti-corrosive topcoat formulated with chlorosulfonated polyethylene as the base material, complemented with weather-resistant pigments, fillers, curing agents, and additives. It belongs to the class of long-term anti-corrosive coatings, offering outstanding chemical resistance, weatherability, and elasticity.

  • Outstanding Protection: Provides excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, salt spray, and aging. It effectively resists degradation from industrial atmospheres, marine environments, and various chemical media without chalking or cracking.

  • Fast Drying: Quick drying times offer optimized application convenience.

  • Wide Application Window: Can be applied normally within a temperature range of $-5^\circ\text{C}$ to $35^\circ\text{C}$, ensuring excellent adhesion and drying results even in low-temperature environments.

  • Excellent Elasticity & Adhesion: Exhibits superior adhesion to compatible primers. The paint film possesses great elasticity and flexibility, allowing it to adapt to slight substrate deformations without peeling or wrinkling.

Applications

Widely utilized for the anti-corrosive coating of industrial facilities such as steel structures, chemical equipment, storage tanks, pipelines, bridges, and wharves. It is particularly suitable for highly corrosive environments, including marine exposure and chemical processing plants, and can also be used for the anti-corrosive protection of concrete surfaces.

Surface Preparation

  • The surface of the substrate or intermediate coat must be clean, dry, and completely free of oil stains, corrosion, and contaminants.

  • Surface cleanliness should reach Sa2.5 grade (abrasive blasting) or St3 grade (manual/power-tool cleaning). Remove surface dirt, salts, and dust using appropriate detergents and high-pressure fresh water, allowing the surface to dry completely before coating.

  • When applying over old epoxy, polyurethane, or chlorosulfonated polyethylene coatings, the existing film must be abraded/roughened to ensure optimal intercoat adhesion.

Application Conditions

  • Temperature & Humidity: The application temperature range is $-5 \sim 35^\circ\text{C}$ with a relative humidity (RH) below 85%. The substrate surface temperature must be at least $3^\circ\text{C}$ above the dew point. Measurements should be taken in the immediate vicinity of the substrate.

  • High-Temperature Constraints: Coating operations are not recommended if the substrate surface temperature exceeds $45^\circ\text{C}$ to avoid film defects such as pinholes or wrinkling.

  • Adverse Weather: Outdoor application is strictly prohibited during rain, snow, heavy winds, sandstorms, or dense fog.

  • Sub-Zero Operations: For applications below $0^\circ\text{C}$, the substrate surface must be entirely free of ice, snow, or frost, and anti-freezing measures must be taken to guarantee normal film formation.

Coating System Compatibility

  • Preceding Coats (Primers/Intermediate Coats): Zinc-Rich Epoxy Primer, Epoxy MIO Intermediate Paint, or Chlorosulfonated Polyethylene Primer. Using these in combination creates a highly durable, long-term anti-corrosive system.

Packaging Specifications

  • 20 kg / pail

Storage

  • Store this product in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse. The shelf life is one year under normal room temperature conditions.

Safety Precautions

  • All sources of ignition are strictly prohibited at the mixing and application sites. Maintain excellent ventilation throughout.

  • Applicators must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent inhalation of paint mist and contact with eyes or skin.

  • If paint contacts the skin, wash immediately with soap and water. If it splashes into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention promptly.
