Drinking Water Tank Epoxy Paint

Performance & Uses

A two-component, solvent-free, non-toxic, high-performance coating based on epoxy resin, formulated with pigments and extenders.

  • Non-toxic and free of solvent evaporation; environmentally friendly and approved for direct food contact.

  • Excellent physical and mechanical properties of the paint film.

  • Outstanding water resistance and chemical resistance.

  • High adhesion to substrates and superior chemical media resistance.

  • Broad range of applications.

Widely applicable for the internal lining of large storage vessels and containers, as well as municipal water supply pipelines and long-distance water transmission lines in industries such as food and beverage brewing, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, potable water, hydropower, seawater desalination, and shipbuilding.

Description

Physical Parameters

  • Color: Iron red or other colors

  • Gloss: Glossy

  • Standard Film Thickness: * Wet Film Thickness (WFT): 150–$250\,\mu\text{m}$ / coat

    • Dry Film Thickness (DFT): 150–$250\,\mu\text{m}$ / coat

  • Theoretical Spreading Rate: Approx. $3.57\,\text{m}^2/\text{kg}$

  • Density: Approx. $1.4\,\text{g/cm}^3$ (after mixing the two components)

Application Instructions

  • Mixing Ratio: Base : Curing Agent = 8 : 1 (by weight)

  • Pot Life ($23^\circ\text{C} \pm 2^\circ\text{C}$): 45 min

  • Thinner: Dedicated Thinner

  • Application Method: This coating is supplied in two-component packaging and can be applied by roller, brush, or airless spray. When applying by high-pressure airless spray:

    1. Preheat the base and curing agent separately to 75–$90^\circ\text{C}$, then apply using specialized plural-component airless spray equipment.

    2. Alternatively, thoroughly mix the base and curing agent at the 8:1 weight ratio, thin the mixture up to 5% (to 95% volume solids) using the dedicated thinner, and apply using standard single-component high-pressure airless spray equipment.

Drying Time & Overcoating Interval

Substrate Temp. (∘C) Surface Dry (h) Hard Dry (h) Min. Overcoating (h) Max. Overcoating (h)
10 12 48 36 24
23 6 24 12 8
35 2 12 7 4

Surface Preparation

Steel surfaces should be blast-cleaned to Sa2.5 or St3 standard.

Application Conditions

The application temperature range is 10–$35^\circ\text{C}$, with relative humidity (RH) below 85%. The substrate surface temperature must be at least $3^\circ\text{C}$ above the dew point (both temperature and humidity should be measured in the vicinity of the substrate). Do not apply paint during adverse weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog, or heavy winds.

Packaging Specifications

  • Base (Part A): 24 kg

  • Curing Agent (Part B): 3 kg

Storage

This product must be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated indoor warehouse. The shelf life is one year or more.

Safety

All sources of ignition are strictly prohibited at the paint mixing and application sites, and good ventilation must be maintained. Application personnel must wear protective equipment to prevent inhalation of paint mist and contact with eyes or skin. In case of skin contact, wash immediately with soap and water. In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of fresh water and seek medical attention.
